It is both difficult and dangerous to tell the truth. People who tell the truth not infrequently get killed.

In Ezekiel 3:1-3 the Prophet is commanded to eat a scroll – by eating the scroll he consumed the unwelcome message of judgment he was to proclaim to those in captivity and in Jerusalem.

John was given a similar command.
